DEEPLY HUMAN - GLOBAL QUEER PHOTOGRAPHY
Launched in 2009 as the first festival of its kind in Germany, Queer
Festival Heidelberg has become an essential event for the queer scene
(and beyond). Queer culture platform celebrating diversity
sexual and gender, its mix of concerts, art exhibitions,
performances, readings, film screenings and round tables attract
Every year more than 10,000 visitors come from all over Germany and
Europe. Since 2021, the largest and oldest queer festival
Germany is supported by the city of Heidelberg as part of its
Rainbow Cities Network Membership. A complete book about the competition
annual photographic festival organized alongside the festival will be published this year
to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the event. It includes a wide
range of photos and short portraits representing a selection of
best works of recent years. Thanks to the evolution of the objective of the
competition and its international appeal, the book offers a cultural and
unusual theme of photographic positions and perspectives which
transcend established norms, codes and visual images.
