DISBLAZE
DISBLAZE
Since 1993, Jean-Pierre Marquet has been involved in a long-term project that he
will not give up anymore. He then attributes to this abysmal work in development
permanent the name Autofictions, at a time when this term was still popular
of a meaning likely to open up to stimulating research. Associating within
large A3 boards of drawings and collages, photographs and paintings, notes and
repentances, comments on art and self-reflexivity, Marquet invents a
double creator in search of himself, revealing the process of elaboration
of an artist's identity from and beyond a never-ending comic strip
not to reveal its possibilities to us here. Some twenty-four years, twelve
self-published collections, a catalog, an incredible artist's book and a handful
exhibitions later, Déséblouir presents a selection of 112 plates
selected over the last twelve years with the ambition of producing a book
coherent. Either a proposal for a “finished” work released by a vision
external subjective among the infinity of potential works contained in a
work claiming the unfinished, the open, the research and the eternal
restart.
