Drawing the future
Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha has never written a book
strictly speaking, no doubt because he considered that the "thought" of
the architect is tested exclusively in the field. On the other hand, the committed man
that he was multiplied the positions taken and the short and incisive writings.
This collection of texts, previously unpublished in French, is of interest in this respect.
undeniable. A valuable testimony to his work, it is also one on society
Brazilian from the second half of the 20th century. His favorite themes
are expressed here very clearly: the defense of democracy, the
modernity, popular access to beauty and comfort, quality of life in
cities and the search for a powerful expressionism in the image of his country.
