  • Disruptions - The Diverse Practice of Palestinian Artist Taysir Batniji is often tinged with impermanence and fragility, drawing inspiration from its subjective experience and its relationship to current events and history. In Disruptions, Batniji collects fragmented screenshots taken between the April 24, 2015 and June 23, 2017 during several WhatsApp video conversations with his mother and family in Gaza. Settled in Europe and unable to return In its home country for years, this digital commons has constituted A crucial meeting place for Batniji and his family: a digital space nevertheless shaped and destabilized by the same forces that affect those close to them of the artist in everyday life. \n \nDisruptions oscillates between the casual domestic language of family telephone call and distorted and degraded compositions, saturated with colors, obliterated by the pixels, eradicated by distance. Through resolution and compression, Batniji's poor images politically visualize the way whose communication and daily life in Gaza are compromised by the conflict, control and surveillance. In their noise and their obliqueness Visually, Batniji creates a link between shared intimacy and violence. colonial, now genocidal, imposed on Gaza to this day, while evoking the physical and emotional separation that occurs on either side of the borders. \n \nAnnounced on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Declaration Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the publication of Disruptions calls for the peace and supports the legitimate struggle for Palestinian freedom. 100% of Proceeds will be donated to the NGO Medical Aid for Palestinians, which provides critical medical care and on-the-ground support.
