Dutch Landscape - Rotterdam-based artist José Quintanar presents the next installment in his ongoing series on the notion and tradition of landscape painting in the Netherlands. Dutch Landscape is an exercise in synthesizing a traditional subject from Dutch art history into a simple drawing game using very rudimentary rules and constraints. Playing with the concept of colonization and settlement, the book functions as a protocol, ritual, or narrative device in which the same landscape is drawn over and over again until it disappears. This volume brings together both previous and new work produced for the series.
