  • Listening only to their courage, the duo composed of the illustrator Simon Bournel-Bosson and journalist Maxime Gueugneau set off to discover a exceptional humus: the “Diagonal of the Void”, a rather unflattering name to designate a quarter of French territory. Indeed, this fictitious line – debatable and discussed - joins together areas with low population density on a almost continuous route from the Ardennes to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Which is why it is a profound disdain and ignorance on the part of the rest of France. The objective was twofold: to combat the lack of knowledge of these territories and obviously laugh as much as possible. Simon and Maxime therefore faced the winds and tides but especially motorway service areas, dodgy bars, student parties, pickle sellers, nuns' corpses, sandwich shops, Tex-Mex, ghosts and other sacred tin shops to convince yourself that there was nothing "empty" in this diagonal. In four steps going from Saint-Dizier to Pau, over nearly 1000km, passing through Auxerre, Commentry, Vezelay, Montluçon, Bar-sur-Aube, Tulle, Uzerche, Tarbes or Lourdes, both The little ones have had quite a few adventures that they are happy to tell us about. in texts and images. Originally published in Kiblind magazine during the 2016-2017 season, the four reports that make up the book have been revised, corrected and augmented with new texts, juicy information and of exclusive illustrations. Everything was hand-printed at the Atelier Kiblind on a Risograph machine.
