Encounters - Encounters is located in the High Plains of Victoria, in south-eastern Australia. Like many mountain ranges, the region inspires curiosity and adventure, a land where seasonal patterns go hand in hand with seasonal activities and where the cycle, until recently, has remained unbroken, as evidenced by the 2019 bushfires.

\nHutchinson's approach began with photographic research, on a land he had previously observed closely and assumed he knew. He undertook monthly multi-day hikes that spanned two years. His goal was to capture the seasonal transformation of the landscape. In the early phases of this project, his trajectory quickly changed; during fieldwork, reading the environment through a Eurocentric seasonal calendar proved ineffective, and encounters with the macro and micro environments revealed a new, invisible landscape. Weather patterns, previously assumed, shifted without warning, and the shifting transformation presented a unique environment of uncertainty and fragility.

\nWhat began as an investigation into ecology and geology quickly became a self-reflection. The publication, two years in the making, presents the results of the project, each describing a macro or micro encounter with the environment, and, in a full volume, the climatic anomalies that occur in this diverse landscape.
