  • Despite a certain enthusiasm, no exhibition in France has really been devoted to an artistic analysis of the news item. This is most certainly the reading of the text by Roland Barthes Structure du fait divers (1967) which is at the origin of this exhibition. "Bastard brother of information", according to the great semiologist, the news item claims to say something about reality, but it doesn't teach us anything, at least nothing about the progression of the knowledge. The scope of its meaning stops at itself and very often its structure prohibits any form of generalization. If it is a diversion according to the famous formula, the news item is also one of the great manifestations of entertainment society. The news item marks a break in the process of civilization. It is aimed at a literate audience, it needs from a news medium, particularly the press and the media, and is updated now on new communication media which themselves participate in the plasticity of your structure and the form of the news item. It exerts a real fascination with artists who have imagined all sorts of outlets formal or typologies. It can be cruel, funny, comical, ironic, cynical. None of the great moments of 20th and 21st century art have not escaped the influence and the shadow cast by the news item. Also the exhibition will present very different and diverse artists, in a plurality of supports and approaches. They will be no less than sixty and More than 150 works will be shown.
