  • This work constitutes the first monograph devoted to the work of Frédéric Teschner, a French graphic designer whose creations for Nanterre-Amandiers, the Centre Pompidou, MAC/VAL, Gennevilliers Theatre, Villa Noailles, dca (Association for the Development of Art Centers), Passerelle or GMEM have also left their mark on the world of graphic design. Born in 1972 and graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1997, he trained with figures such as Pierre Bernard – for whom he worked at within the Graphic Creation Workshop – and Pierre di Sciullo. Of From opening his own studio in late 2002 to his sudden death in 2016, he placed himself at the crossroads of several influences and was able to impose a writing style strong personal graphic design, marking a whole generation of young graphic designers, Always showing a keen interest in the working relationship he loved develop with his interlocutors, he constantly carried out work on orders and personal projects, in a constant back and forth which has nourished the two aspects of his practice without ever compromising them. The book will give see a precise selection of the different projects designed by Frédéric Teschner during his career. His work will be presented in an original device and unpublished thanks to a series of photographs featuring 48 posters and numerous objects (books, posters, visual identities, etc.). The management artistic was provided by the Valencia studio in collaboration with the photographer Morgane Le Gall. To understand her work and her approach, sixteen texts were commissioned from personalities who collaborated or accompanied Teschner during his career (see below). These authors, all involved in the cultural world (graphic designers, designers, artists, curators exhibition, institution directors, screen printers, teachers), have chosen to comment on an aspect of the work or a particular project. This monograph bilingual (French/English) is published in co-edition with the art center Passerelle in Brest, which devoted an exhibition to the work of Frédéric Teschner at the beginning of 2018. She will benefit from the support of the Cnap. A poster sample printed at 1:1 scale on blue backed poster paper will be inserted at the end of the notebook, making each copy of the book unique.
