In the former Grand Café des Mouettes, Christian Patterson has recreated a
Mississippi grocery store that went bankrupt and whose furniture he salvaged
as well as preserved and photographed hundreds of products, expired for
decades. Thus, he questions the profound transformations that are taking place in
capitalist societies. For him, photography is no longer just a
means of representing reality, it becomes the component of a story which
confronts the emotional power of images with the physical presence of
objects.
