  • Grace Weaver - The long-legged figures in the artist's paintings Brooklyn-based Grace Weaver (born 1989) exists "halfway between the reality and fable," depicted in vibrant color palettes of pink and red while they engage in everyday activities: painting their nails, braiding hair, making avocado toast. They hurry against the edges of the large canvases on which they are painted, as if their liveliness was barely contained by the two-dimensional medium of acrylic and oil. \n \nAt a time when there is so much concern with the idea "identification," Weaver's paintings are playful and self-aware self-worth, resulting in work that reflects everyday realities while avoiding clichés. Distinctly contemporary and resolutely feminine, Weaver magnifies the small moments of modern life and imbues them with a unique emotional depth. \n \nAfter Weaver's work was presented in solo exhibitions in two German institutions, Kunstpalais Erlangen and Oldenburger Kunstverein, with great success, the museums collaborated in the publication of the artist's first monograph.
