Haunted
Haunted
At the age of 30, Shaghayegh Moazzami left Iran for Canada in
favor of a white marriage. In "Haunted", she recounts all the difficulties
that she experienced in her home country - both at school and within
her own family - and which pushed her into exile. She tells above all
how, once she arrived in Canada in 2016, she still failed to
find respite and continued to suffer the weight of religion and
traditions instilled in his youth. A weight that one day manifested itself through
the appearance of an imaginary old woman, bigoted and ultraconservative. A
old woman who begins to persecute Shaghayegh, constantly reproaching him for his
Western lifestyle and telling her off whenever she does
something forbidden or frowned upon in his country (cycling or smoking)
when you are a woman, drinking alcohol, etc.)... "Haunted" is a story
An unvarnished autobiography, a dive into the troubled psyche of a young woman
angry woman facing inner demons and situation
personal life that dissatisfies him to the highest degree. Through this story, Shaghayegh
Moazzami shows how the Iranian people, and particularly the women of this
countries, continue to suffer even today from incredible pressure which
will often mark for life.
