  • In June 2021, Hungary's ruling Fidesz party, led by Viktor Orbán, passed a law prohibiting the presentation of homosexuality to minors. This measure represents an attempt to make "queerness" invisible in the Hungarian public life. At the same time, the German mini-series KaDeWe - Our Time Is Now was filmed in Budapest. It depicts, among other things, the life homosexuality of the Berlin subculture around 1920. While they were living the almost surreal simultaneity of a light cinematic bubble and a retrograde socio-political moment, the two main actresses, Lia von Blarer and Valerie Stoll, wanted to counter this political state of affairs with a voice artistic and activist. In their book Hurry Up and Wait, the two actresses juxtapose queer fiction with queer reality through photographs and texts. Their analog photographs taken during the filming of the series allow us to glimpse the exuberant and agitated world of filmmaking of films, while people from the Hungarian gay community give an insight into their daily lives through poems. of their lives daily through poems, short stories and political speeches. They tell us about their attempts to regain the freedoms and autonomy that have been taken away from them by the current government.
