On 264 pages, Playing the Wolf presents around fifteen stories taken from the
legendary Garo magazine, but also completely pages and illustrations
unpublished, which makes this new collection, three years after L'Envol, a
a real editorial event. Often presented as the first woman to have
published in Garo, Kuniko Tsurita (who died prematurely at the age of 37)

work carefully preserved by her widower, Naoyuki Takahashi, who gave us
kindly allowed to have access to it. Drawn between 1968 and 1981, the stories
which make up Playing the Wolf once again show the full extent of the talent of
the author and her changing interests: stories with political and
protesters, animal fable, esoteric trip or even autobiography,
all these pages also draw in hollow the portrait of a singular woman,
passionate, and completely devoted to her art.
