The catalog reproduces iconic plates by Edmond-François Calvo, Will
Eisner, Hergé, George Herriman, Winsor McCay and Geo McManus,
accompanied by an introductory text by Anne Lemonnier.
The fifteen masterpieces from the collections are then presented in front of them
authors who play the game of confrontation: David B., Edmond
Baudoin, Blutch, Philippe Dupuy, Brecht Evens, Gabriella Giandelli, Dominique
Goblet, Emmanuel Guibert, Benoît Jacques, Eric Lambé, Lorenzo Mattotti,
Catherine Meurisse, Joann Sfar, Anna Sommer and Chris Ware.
For each, a short text sheds light on the connections: a tribute paid by a
author to an artist he considers a major source of inspiration,
quote found in one of his boards, or a more secret link. Through this game
of echoes, the reader is invited to renew the way he looks at modern art,
while deepening his knowledge of the 9th art.
