The Factory of Fanette Mellier
Author of more than ten works, Fanette Mellier explores as a
graphic designer and for twenty years the possibilities left
through printing as part of his work as a graphic designer. Each of his
works experiment with new techniques (use of white inks or
phosphorescent, overprinting...) and offers a new way
to design the book as an object. The manipulation of letters and drawing
of characters, but also the work of the paper and the color are thus
placed at the center of her creative work. Established as a graphic designer
Independent since 2005, Fanette Mellier has also carried out various works of
commissioned for institutions such as the National Museum of Natural History, the
Centre Pompidou, or the Ministry of Culture. Through this interview
structured in three chapters covering his work as a typographic designer,
author and graphic designer, Fanette Mellier looks back on her career
rich and eclectic. She reveals her working methods, her affiliations
artistic and offers an analysis of his practice halfway between illustration
and graphics. The book will be illustrated with around fifty photographs
in color allowing to show certain representative examples of the
work of Fanette Mellier. The publication of this work is concomitant with
the inauguration of the monographic exhibition dedicated to him
at the Chaumont International Graphic Design Biennial and will be visible from
May 23 to September 22, 2021.
