The Memory of Order
The Memory of Order
To question the meaning of architecture means to try to establish a
principle of global and timeless legitimation, not referring only
in the past or present. Modern architecture, despite the fact that it
present in a fragmentary condition, aspires, for this same reason, to a
all lost.
In this text, developed from the point of view of an architect and not that of a
critic or historian, the aim is to verify how the stories
Modern architectural works, although fragmentary, always refer to an Order
which continues to serve as a reference. He thus attempts to explain why
architecture continues to have its own identity throughout time and
why it continues to be so necessary.
