  • Fashion as indiscipline - Exposed, publicized, praised or criticized, fashion defines a significant part of the material history of our societies. the image of its complex and mobile industry, it constitutes a discipline in becoming, an interdisciplinary field of research which has gradually appropriated the analysis grids and critical tools of neighboring sciences, while feeding on its own paradoxes and ambiguities. \n \nBetween permanence and novelty, materiality and immateriality, Fashion as indiscipline aims to bear witness to the richness of this field of creation by outlining an overview of thinking on, by and for fashion. Researchers, philosophers, creators, performance authors, collectors and artistic directors are thus invited to question these together territories around four central themes: the formation of styles between clichés and emancipations; the forms of conservation of fashion, both artistic and heritage; the relationship between this industry and the market; and finally the current processes of creation, in the light of a perspective ecological and resilience. \n \nThis work comes from the eponymous conference organized by the School of Decorative Arts and the Duperré School in Cerisy in 2021.
