Théo Mercier Possession of the world is not my priority Interview with
Jean-Hubert-Martin; texts by Chantal Pontbriand, Sohrab Mohebbi; notices
by Aude Launay 22 × 30 cm 304 pages Hardcover, sewn, cloth-bound book Language: French /
English Release: February 2020 ISBN: 9782373720822 Price: €35 The studio of
Théo Mercier and Éditions Dilecta are working together on the project
monograph of the artist in order to draw up an inventory of his production
prolific, particularly interesting in that the artist brings
in the landscape of French contemporary art a field of interventions
specific which opens the boundaries of the plastic arts properly speaking.
Coming from engineering studies (and not from the classic Fine Arts course),
the artist allows himself everything in his interventions: he flirts with performance
and sound production, frees itself from good taste, shamelessly draws on
cultures that are not his own, seizes the most trivial materials
that he mixes with the noblest, crosses eras without being afraid of
anachronism… This book, illustrated with photographs of works and studios,
as well as various working papers, will be supported by analyses
reviews aimed at shedding light on developments and trends in the production of
Théo Mercier. The publication of La Possession du monde is not my priority
will find its place in 2020, when its new
BIG SISTERS show (created in Annecy), and its upcoming exhibitions in
its new galleries (Proyectosmonclova, Mexico City, Mexico, May 2020; mor
carpenter, Paris, September 2020).
