The Eagle and the Swan
The Eagle and the Swan
To mark the tenth anniversary of his photography residency, the theme of which is
Mediterranean, the Treilles Foundation wanted to encourage a dialogue between
the works of its first 28 winners and one of the authors of its residence
writing, the novelist Dimitri Bortnikov. The Eagle and the Swan was born from this
exchange. “This project was conceived in Treilles and born in Paris. When I was
offered to write this book - I couldn't believe my ears. A man from the North...
A man who has only seen the Mediterranean in his winter dreams. A Russian who
has only read about the sea in books! The man of the steppes that I am… But a
times in front of the photos - no doubts. I started to turn around this
idea like a donkey around a temple. And this temple is the image. The photo.” -
Dimitri Bortnikov on The Eagle and the Swan.
