Laurence Bonvin - Aletsch Negative
Laurence Bonvin - Aletsch Negative
A photographic journey that is both documentary and sensory at the heart of the
Aletsch ice monster, the largest glacier in Europe (a series of
photographs turned into negatives, with four author texts
interdisciplinary on the glacier: glaciologist Jean-Baptiste Bosson, the
art historians Federica Martini and Joël Vacheron and writer-researcher André
Ourednik). Bilingual French/English.
The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps. According to the
glaciologists, by the end of this century, only a few will remain
fragments while most of the glaciers will have completely disappeared. With
Aletsch Negative, Laurence Bonvin offers an intimate photographic experience,
sensory, which disturbs and questions our perception of colors,
spatial and temporal scales as well as our relationship to the ice giant and to
its future, so linked to ours. Journey into the belly of the glacier.
Published following the exhibition “Laurence Bonvin, Moving Still” at the Manoir de la
City of Martigny, from September 6 to December 1, 2019.
