In a small ghostly town in the United States, decor in faded colors
where the buildings seem abandoned, Larry and Alice drag out their solitude.
He works in an electronics store run by an alcoholic boss; she
plays the organ in an empty church. Larry and Alice date, but never
to get involved. Taking refuge in his childhood dreams, Larry is passionate about astronomy
and space travel. Teddy, a sententious teddy bear, is at his best
friend and advisor. Alice, for her part, dreams of something else: she would like to found
a family with the kind Larry… As their relationship takes a turn
romantic, Larry fears being propelled onto an unknown trajectory and
scary. How do you come to terms with the new direction your life is taking?
Aurélien Maury alternates between funny and tender sequences showing the first steps
of the young couple, with dreamlike sequences depicting the late change of
Larry as a cosmic epic in which black holes, ships and faults
temporal guides this allegorical cosmonaut towards his own destiny. This
Aurélien Maury's first work, initially published in 2011 and since out of print
several years, comes out in a new edition with drawing and lettering
reworked, a few months before his next album Oh, Lenny, the release of which
orbit is scheduled for the first half of 2024.
