Lesage, Simon, Crépin . Painters, Spiritists & Healers - Catalogue of the exhibition Lesage, Simon, Crépin. Painters, Spiritists & Healers , presented at the LaM, Villeneuve d'Ascq (October 5, 2019 - January 5, 2020). These three artists (Victor Simon (1903-1976), Augustin Lesage (1876-1954), and Fleury Joseph Crépin (1875-1948), all three from the North of France) were miners, plumbers and cafe owners when the voices ordered them to paint, and under the guidance of the beyond they would change the course of their lives. What they have in common is that they are all three healers.

\nConceived as spiritual edifications, their paintings concentrate (combine) influences and motifs of Christian, Hindu, Islamic origins or even those inspired by ancient Egypt.

\nFrom these strange works of great plastic quality, the catalogue travels through spiritualist societies, the mining basin, world wars, universal exhibitions before travelling to Morocco, Algeria and Egypt where these spiritualist creations have met with astonishing success.

\nTheir paintings were collected by André Breton, Jean Dubuffet who classified them as art brut or Nicolas Schöffer, they now enjoy international influence.
