Letizia Battaglia
Letizia Battaglia
As part of the season dedicated to historical and heritage exhibitions,
The Château de Tours presents a major new exhibition dedicated to Letizia
Battaglia, great Italian photographer and photojournalist (1935-2022), famous
for his works on the mafia that was rife in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s.
Consisting of 4 essays — Walter Guadagnini (Camera), Monica Poggi (Camera),
Melissa Harris (Aperture), and Marta Sollima (granddaughter of Letizia Battaglia)
—, the four sections illustrate his fight against the Mafia as much as his
work on the female body (which also joins his fight against the Mafia,
the woman representing for her the hope of a better society). A
exhibition co-organized with Camera – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, Turin.
