LEVA LEVA - Litany of Portuguese fishermen \n

In collaboration with the Franco-Portuguese cultural season, the FLEE artistic platform is releasing its fourth project entitled: LEVA LEVA Litany of Portuguese fishermen .

\nFor most of the 20th century, Portugal's economy was based on fishing and a highly alienating canning industry. In order to endure this burden and coordinate their work, fishermen sang together. Leva Leva: Litany of the Portuguese Fishermen tells the story of this culture specific to the Portuguese coast, through a vinyl compilation containing original recordings of fishermen's songs, as well as contemporary compositions by artists such as Filipa Cordeiro, Joăo Pais Filipe, Nandele, Romain Baudoin and S1m0nc3ll0. In parallel, the project also offers a detailed book (Portuguese - French) bringing together artists, writers, witnesses, experts, all invited to reflect on the question of this socio-musical phenomenon, as well as its brutal transformation. Under the artistic direction of the creative office Non-Verbal Club, accompanied by an immersive installation at the Lisbon Museum of Art and Technology (MAAT), the transmedia object, composed of an LP and a book, is packaged in an innovative recycled box.
