Over the past five years, Robbie Lawrence has travelled across Scotland and the
United States to photograph the Highland Games. His new book is very
anticipated, Long Walk Home, examines the cultural significance of the tournament
traditional community and calls into question the very notion of belonging to
a place. Presented as a two-volume limited edition,
including a hardback book of candid images from the Games and a second volume
sewn by Singer with portraits of the participants in the Games, as well as a text
award-winning poet John Burnside's detailed essay, which highlights how
Scots and the Scottish diaspora have reshaped the form of the Games to suit
to their cultural needs. Burnside died shortly after completing
his magnificent text.
