Maudits Lyonnais - Revival of the plastic arts in Lyon at the c
Lyon's artistic production of the 1960s is little known. It was
yet abundant, rich and varied. Rediscover the many personalities
singular, often self-taught, that the period saw the birth of, this is the subject
of the exhibition organized in Lyon in the fall of 2019 in the restored premises of
the Renaud Foundation, and it is that of this very well-documented book whose title,
Maudits lyonnais, is a nod to the city's reputation for having
has long been a “cultural desert” in the field of plastic arts,
of having retained and digested his best children, depriving them of a wider
fame.
The "Lyonnais artist" of the sixties most often finds ways to exalt his art
very personal paths, original veins, unexploited elsewhere, when
he is not downright a precursor. This is in any case the figure that emerges
draws through the works of around thirty painters that the curator and
author chose to exhume.
