Neurath, first published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1939, captures and
describes the state of the world in the 1930s using texts and
figurative illustrations. From 1925, Neurath and his team worked
on a new visual language called "Isotype". At a time when the rise of
New media made available quantities of information previously unavailable
unthinkable, Neurath felt the need for a systematic visualization
explaining the facts, statistical data and comparative figures of
simple way. The book can be considered one of the predecessors
most influential figures in today's ubiquitous infographics. His topics include
various social issues of the time such as mortality, health,
employment, trade, education, mobility, migration and demography.
