He is Thelonious Sphere Monk, an eccentric musical genius who reinvented jazz.
She is Pannonica de Koenigswarter, a British baroness of the family
Rothschild with a free and indomitable spirit. Their deep friendship was born in 1954 and
would not end until Monk's death in 1982.
Set against the backdrop of New York during the golden age of jazz, Monk! explores
the unique alchemy between these two brilliant personalities separated by status
social, skin color and culture but united by their immense love of
music.

Comic book author Youssef Daoudi has produced as a designer and
screenwriter of around ten comics published by Casterman, Glénat and Fluide
glacial. With Monk!, he signs his first graphic novel published simultaneously
in the United States (First Second, New York) and in France.
