MOTHER'S TONGUE - CAT. EXHIBITION KUNSTVEREIN HEILBRONN
At the centre of Carina Brandes' (*1982) photographic work is her
body which she makes - in an already almost "cool" mode, according to one reading
today frequent - the material of his artistic production. This gives rise
to almost surreal confrontations between his body and the universes
of the most diverse objects which transform into mysterious circumstances full
of latent desires in seemingly everyday settings. In the current context of
politics around gender and the body, that of women is generally
associated with horror and sex, associated with victims of abuse, or
further degraded to the rank of an advertising object arousing excitement. Brandes y
opposes his non-explicit vision in a world deliberately deprived of men,
determined by abject objectivity as much as by moments of sensuality
full of humor. The artist, who has practiced artistic gymnastics since his
early childhood familiarized with his body.
