  • In May 2018, Adrien Vautier, Photo-reporter, produced a series of photographs in Jerusalem and the West Bank border. What emerges is a vision of two Concurrent events: Palestinian protests against the opening of an American embassy in the city on the one hand, and the commemoration of the day of the "Nakba", the exodus of Palestinians in 1948, on the other hand. These protests, which are taking place in the Palestinian territories, Gaza and West Bank, then have a significant echo and this even in the various Israeli communities. To the point that some citizens from the community ultra-Orthodox Jewish people opposed to the decision of American President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the country's capital, meet at around the ceremony to show their support. The work presented here is the personal interpretation of a media news story. It bears witness to the complexity of a conflict and the way in which some Israeli citizens feel held hostage by a colonial government policy. This series of photographs is therefore not to be considered as a report, but rather as a committed work, in which aesthetics reinforce the power of the testimony.
