New Waves
New Waves
Co-published with the Cnap Nouvelles Vagues invites you to discover the works
printed art by twenty-five contemporary artists. This project, by creating a
a place for meetings and exchanges of know-how between artists and artisans
art, perpetuates the spirit of commission programs carried out since 1989 by the
National Center for Plastic Arts. Aquatint, etching, rough, photogravure
grain, lithography, drypoint, screen printing: so many techniques
requested to work and test the notion of
reproducibility. The tenfold increase in gesture intensifies the magic of the images while
preserving the mystery of the artistic process. Detail views and plans
overall, fields and reverse fields show twenty-five adventures
singular, where the definitions of the original and the
multiple. The work includes, in addition to detailed and illustrated notices of
each project, an unpublished text by exhibition curator Joël Riff “Freedom,
originality, usefulness”, different stages of work as well as a glossary of
printing techniques. The twenty-five artists are: Xavier Antin, Laetitia
Benat, Pierrette Bloch, Gaëlle Chotard, Stéphane Dafflon, Angela Detanico &
Rafael Lain, Lionel Estève, Laureline Galliot, Jochen Gerner, Delphine
