Olivier Vadrot: Scrums
Olivier Vadrot: Scrums
First monograph devoted to the work of the designer/scenographer, with a
text by design historian Tony Côme, interviews and a significant
iconography.
The trajectory of Olivier Vadrot (born in 1970 in Semur-en-Auxois) was determined
at the crossroads of many fields: architecture, design, curating
and exhibition scenography, the theatrical and musical scene. In parallel with
his studies in architecture, he embarked on the collective adventure of the Theater
Pluzdank. He co-founded the contemporary art center La Salle de bains in Lyon and then
the Cocktail Designers group within which he designs several devices
listening for music labels. His stay at the Villa Medici (2012-2013) in
as a scenographer marks an important turning point in his career, which
led to surveys being made in most of the ancient spectacle buildings.
His personal practice has recently asserted itself by refocusing around
micro-architectures allowing assembly. If some of these
devices are nomadic and ephemeral, others have been more durable
implanted in public spaces. Olivier Vadrot pays extreme attention to
conditions of material existence of the objects it produces: economy of
manufacturing, multiplicity of uses including transport, assembly,
storage, possible adaptations, maintenance and renewal.
