A city in Catalonia built in the heart of a volcanic zone, Olot is famous for
be the only place in the world outside of Easter Island where you can find a
moai statue. From this starting point, the author highlights various phenomena
disturbing issues related to the city: serial murders, paranormal manifestations,
deviant behavior or even UFO sightings. According to Dr. Alderete,
Olot is populated by bloodthirsty pirates, mad scientists and other followers of
parallel truths. The connection between their stories paints a portrait
fragmented from a disturbing city, which seems to be prey to a curse.

feature a mysterious anonymous character, repeating an almost
ritual between the city and the marshy area that borders it. Like the agents
Scully and Mulder, Dr. Alderete takes us to the borders of reality with this story
halfway between documentary and paranoid fiction. Its clear line
thick and its psychedelic compositions brilliantly highlight how
the strange can penetrate the interstices of reality… A prolific artist, Dr.
Alderete is Argentinian and lives in Mexico. He has illustrated many books, including
several on Easter Island. Olot is his first comic strip as
as full author.
