  • The Spanish artist duo Angel Albarrán and Anna Cabrera have a special relationship with nature. Source of inspiration, photographic subject or almost unreal decor, it is always, in one way or another, present in their images. As a common thread in their production, trees are often represented: the shadow of a branch, the drawing of foliage that has become abstract or still a twisted silhouette in the center of the frame. Only the tree is not the only subject of this work. It is for them to explore more broadly the relationship that man has with nature. "We start from the principle that understanding man comes through understanding nature, not as it is is, but rather as we are. By remaining attentive and observant, we can perceive both, because we are both witnesses and objects from an observation," they specify. This is done with the help of literature, and in particular the writings of Hermann Hess, who shares this thought and what the artists express. Photographers combine, like a painter, a balance so characteristic of the colors to an exceptional technicality of the drawing, which is has become one of their trademarks. Gold leaf enhances the bright colors, when a silver trace does not emphasize a reflection, for us dive into dreamlike and timeless landscapes. Far from idealizing this nature, photographers strive to magnify what exists, by taking us in a unique chromatic journey that only they are capable of inventing.
