With Perturbations, his second book published by Adverse, Rosaire Appel radicalizes his research in comics by flirting more than ever with the limits of abstraction. Based on architectural and topographical plans ghostly and shattered, she articulates her “asemic writing” (concrete poetry) and its tangles of convoluted spaces in a visual explosion destabilizing all conventional reading habits.
