To mark its twentieth anniversary, Poulet aux prunes is the subject of a new
hardcover edition, with edges covered in bright yellow marbling.
Nasser Ali Khan decided to let himself die. During one of their arguments,
his wife broke his tar which he cherishes like the apple of his eye. Deprived of
his precious musical instrument, Nasser remains bedridden. It is then that parade
Ghosts of the past... Mixing fragments of memories with the present, Marjane Satrapi
masterfully superimposes temporalities in order to evoke the loss of taste for
the life of the musician – because “to live, it is not enough to be alive” (sic).
A melancholic drama brilliantly enhanced by the author's bite and humor.

Marjane Satrapi talks about Iran and her family again. First published
once in 2004, Poulet aux prunes received the Best Album Award in Angoulême in
2005 before being adapted for the cinema by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud. This
book received support from the Île-de-France region.
