Crisscross binding / Crisscross binding
Crisscross binding / Crisscross binding
This book presents the results of the research developed by Anne Goy in
the framework of the first research grant in creative binding (2010-2011)
awarded by the Mariemont Book Workshop.
Selected for her project on the modules of book articulation at the start
From a three-part cover system, Anne Goy has developed a
technique for which she had already laid the first foundations in 1986. This is the
famous "secret Belgian binding", today renamed "crisscross binding" in
reference to the crossings caused by the sewing thread.
The interest of the publication lies in the numerous drawings, diagrams and
photographs accompanied by explanations which make it a valuable manual
technique. This one is designed for both beginners who will be able to acquire
the basic technique, and for experienced bookbinders who will use all the
aesthetic possibilities of this sewing.
