Resurfacing - Following his first monograph Entangled (Deadbeat Club,
2020), Resurfacing deepens the visual poetry of Maude Arsenault with a
ongoing and honest exploration of the female experience. Time passes; the
Family life fractures and cracks with him. Surfaces crack
under a varnish in calm and soft tones, while the folds and crevices are
mirrors of a newly re-appropriated inner body. \n \nResurfacing is
an essential extension of his work, translating the delicate power and
discreet of its images in a tactile and textured design, giving amplitude
and rhythm to Arsenault's feminist visual language. \n \nAfter several
years spent behind the lens in the world of fashion, Maude Arsenault,
photographer, artist, mother and feminist, branched out towards the arts in 2015
visuals. Her work explores themes of female representation,
private space, domesticity and intimacy within an approach
photographic and material which oscillates between abstract compositions,
self-portraits, landscapes and documentary images. She explores from
photographic and printed image, collage, sculpture and
installation. In doing so, his projects deploy bodies as spaces and
unexpected spaces of the body, in a perspective of self-determination for the
women.
