SCENERY
SCENERY
This monograph re-examines the photographic work that Claire Chevrier carries out
for twenty years around a recurring question: how
do we represent a space? Or, more precisely: how do we represent
a space in a photographic frame? For this artist, it is about
always wondering how to organize reality. We find this through his
different research, in his project around stage spaces as with
that of the city considered as a setting. When it observes dedicated spaces
At work, what interests him then is the way in which the body evolves in a
particular space. Bodies are caught in a space that surpasses them. All the
representation spaces photographed by Claire Chevrier maintain a
kinship with the stage space. This is indicated by the title of the book: Scenery
(both “scene” and “landscape” in English).
