THE BEATLES THE BEATLES
THE BEATLES THE BEATLES
The profusion of atmospheres of the “double-white”, absorbing and reinventing
infinite nuances of music, proves that "the Beatles do not play
"pop, they own it," to quote David Quantick. The quartet did not make
which draws from a wide variety of styles: he appropriates each territory
musical, from the height of his experience and his artistic instincts. In this sense,
"The Beatles" is a demonstration of the power that takes into their hands
pop, all pop one could say, while infusing them with the
quality of their songwriting. Greater than the sum of its parts, greater
than a compilation of titles that we are sometimes tempted to sort, its four sides
impose both unity and plurality, are untouchable at the same time
that are interactive and, all in all, embody the idea of an album. As John Lennon did
emphasizes, if Sgt. Pepperʼs has going for it its ʻʻforcedʼʼ concept which sets it apart and
contributes to its popularity, "The Beatles" is of a deeper dimension which
appeals to other parts of the affect, the intellect, the sensitivity of
each one. It is a journey into the unconscious, into emotions: sex, fear,
anger, humor, childhood, love, sleep, awakening, tenderness, violence… It was necessary
well a double album to condense all that.
