  • The Color of a Flea's Eye: The Picture Collection - Publicly Held Library in New York, the Picture Collection is a unique image bank in the world and precursor of the internet, made up of more than a million photographs, engravings, posters, postcards, book illustrations, magazines and newspapers, classified by subject. Since its creation in 1915, it has been frequented and used as a resource by the greatest writers, filmmakers and artists, notably by Diego Rivera for his large murals or by Andy Warhol who used his images in advertising. Now he is the artist Taryn Simon, familiar with working with archives, who makes this bank of provided artistic material for a large-scale iconographic project by offering a journey through this body of images which also reveals the meaning of our ranking systems. Produced jointly with the artist, this luxurious book contains 57 images hand-glued into the book, many fold-out pages, and several different papers.
