THE DAILY WEEDING
THE DAILY WEEDING
Commissioned photographer for editorials in fashion magazines, Kuba
Ryniewicz is now engaged in a more personal exercise. For his first
artist's book, Kuba of Polish origin recently naturalized British has
swapped his studio for the expanse of the English countryside and the privacy of his
Newcastle Pavilion. The Daily Weeding is composed of black and white photographs
white and colour taken at Montagu Estate in the North East of England.
Far from being a travel journal, Kuba presents a family album, with its
chosen family. The camera bears witness to the attachment he has formed with this
country that has welcomed her for more than 15 years. Kuba introduces us to her husband Jon,
observes the banality of his couple's happy daily life: a haircut
in the garden, weeding and laundry that dries expressly before the
English rain does not come to thwart his momentum. The dialogue continues with the
meeting his closest friends, Roxy, Paul, Ania and Max, enjoying some little
simple and burlesque moments. This proximity with those around him manages
to make us also consider buildings and grazing animals as
members of his entourage. The book offers a poetic and comical stroll between
architecture and a community that demonstrates deep friendship. The Daily
Weeding is accompanied by fiction by Yelena Moskovich and a short essay by
British writer Olivia Laing.
