The journey of things
The Journey of Things (V.3) - Third printing of Magdalene Odundo’s The Journey of Things was published alongside the eponymous exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield in spring 2019. The book presents 44 of Odundo’s vases alongside a wide selection of archaeological and contemporary objects that reveal the wide range of global references that have informed her practice. It comprises a series of interwoven sections presenting an organic flow of content that twins and juxtaposes the historical and the contemporary, featuring works by Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, Lucie Rie, Jean Arp, as well as ancient vessels from Greece and Egypt, historical ceramics from Africa, Asia and Central America, and ritual objects from across the African continent.
