This Mortal House Building 1

The book This Mortal House Building 1 by Maria Stamenković Herranz, published by Palais Books seeks to translate the performance of the artist at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Istanbul. During 24 days MSH built, in the museum space, a blindfolded brick maze, then the last day destroyed it. From the many photographs that constitute documentation of the performance, the book offers a non-linear reading, itself subject to constructions and deconstructions. Without binding, like a newspaper, the reader is invited to follow two numberings, one in figures Arabic, the other in Roman numerals. The first reading offers a sequence chronological order of the event, while the second gives access to a new part of texts and images. These different paths then give access to a labyrinth both visual and mental. By folding, unfolding and assembling the leaves in different ways, we are led to modify the experience that we have the book and to apprehend in a singular way that of the performance.
