To winter there
To winter there is a visual story inspired by the expeditions of Louis Jolliet
(1645-1700) across the North American continent, a territory he traveled
throughout his life until he disappeared at sea. Nearly three hundred years
Later, in the absence of his lost journals, Charles-Frédérick Ouellet is
set off on the trail of this forgotten character, along the rivers which
are moving inland. His photographs reveal two
territories located in opposite directions, one south of the United States, towards
the mouth of the Mississippi, the other in the north of Quebec where the sea of
Labrador.
