Transphere No. 07
Transphere No. 07
The catalog begins with a gallery of photographs of the installations that Yuya
Tsukahara created for the event: a conveyor belt on which are placed
silicone hands and feet, old sneakers, dinosaurs
plastic… But also a strange robot mannequin, objects stuck to the wall or
more videos.
In her essay, Aomi Okabe, the exhibition curator, presents contact
Gonzo, his videos of performances between fights and choreography, his
transgression of the codes of contemporary dance, his desire to rediscover the
wild dimension of the body.
In his text, the artist Fabrice Hyber gives us his impressions of his recent
meeting with contact Gonzo during a festival in Ishinomaki, a city ravaged by
the 2011 earthquake.
An interview with Yuya Tsukahara is an opportunity to retrace his career and
to discuss his solo activities, particularly as a scenographer.
The catalog ends with photographs of the collages, large tarpaulins
illustrated and Gonzo contact videos presented in the exhibition.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the Maison de la Culture du Japon in
Paris, from January 29 to March 28, 2020.
