TYPOBIOGRAPHY - 60 YEARS OF WORK - ILLUSTRATIONS, COLOR

A monographic work dedicated to Jost Hochuli, Typobiographie looks back at the entire long and prolific career of the Swiss designer and typographer. Bringing together several texts by Jost Hochuli himself, contributions of renowned personalities (including a preface by John Morgan and an interview with Robin Kinross) and a corpus of unpublished archival images, this monograph intends to generate reflections on the question of book design and in particular on the inspirations and personalities which marked the designer's journey. Typobiography is a visual monograph, which develops in several thematic parts the questions which guided his practice during his sixty-year career and in particular his design design as an essential factor in the readability of a text and in the transmission of knowledge. Each part will be abundantly illustrated by works specifically digitized for the occasion and shown in a presentation pages designed by Jost Hochuli himself, in order to constitute a work of reference on the designer's work. While the designer will celebrate in 2023 Since his 90th birthday, no monographic work on his work has been published. Jost Hochuli's edition: Printed Matter, Mainly Books in 2002 (in English) This work will thus provide a necessary update in light of the last twenty years of Jost Hochuli's career but also of the interest renewed that his work has encountered, particularly as an author, among younger generations. The publication of the Typobiography is in line with of the many works by Jost Hochuli already published by Éditions B42, Le Détail in Typography (2010), The ABCs of a Typographer (2015) and A Book Design systematic? (2020). A flagship author of Éditions B42, this new work will highlight spotlight on the work that Jost Hochuli has undertaken as a designer graphic and typographic.
