A week of kindness
A week of kindness
With “A Week of Kindness”, probably the most famous of collage books,
Prairial Editions Completes Reissue of Surrealist Novels Trilogy
by Max Ernst. Published in 1934, this masterpiece draws on the same sources as “The
“Woman with 100 Heads” (1929) and “Dream of a Little Girl Who Wanted to Enter Carmel”
(1930) to give substance to his monsters and his nocturnal visions: the novels
popular and scientific journals of the 19th century. But he goes further by
its breadth, its formal perfection and its sadistic darkness, that of an era
where everything already pointed to the Second World War.
