A more-than-perfect city
A more-than-perfect city
Coming out of the 2008 crisis which violently affected his country, the graphic designer
Portuguese Rui Silva diverts and updates the acerbic imagery of the satirical newspaper
early 20th century French, the Butter Plate, to build a
a scathing pamphlet against the tourist gentrification of the city of Porto,
of which he was both an involuntary actor and a helpless spectator. This
visual essay articulates a critique nourished by theoretical readings and sharpened by
his own experience, and intends to echo the current situation of all
city that tourism saves and destroys.
